Branding questions, answered
Don’t see your question? Email info@molo.agency and we’ll come back within one working day.
Can you handle brand strategy and visual identity together?
Yes, and we strongly recommend it. Strategy without execution is theory; execution without strategy is decoration.
Do you do rebrands?
Often. We've led full rebrands for scale-ups, e-commerce brands, and B2B software companies. We approach rebrands as a commercial exercise, not just a visual one.
How much does branding cost?
Positioning and messaging work sits at the lower end because it is mostly strategy and writing. A full identity, meaning naming, logo, typography, colour, motion and a guidelines document, is a larger project because every asset has to work at every size and in every medium. The honest cost driver is scope of application: a brand used on a website and a deck is a fraction of one that has to work across vehicles, packaging, signage and uniforms. We scope from the application list, not from a package tier.
How long does a branding project take?
A positioning and messaging engagement usually runs four to six weeks. A full identity typically runs eight to twelve, because the middle of it is iteration and stakeholder alignment rather than production. Where a launch date is fixed we work backwards from it and tell you what has to be decided by when.
Do we need a rebrand or just a refresh?
A refresh is right when the business has not changed but the assets have aged: the logo still fits, the palette and typography have drifted, the applications are inconsistent. A rebrand is right when the business has changed and the brand no longer describes it, or when the name itself is holding you back. Rebranding a business that only needed tidying is an expensive way to lose recognition you had already earned.
Will we own the brand assets outright?
Yes. You receive the working files, the fonts you are licensed to use, and the guidelines. There is no ongoing licence to us and nothing is held back to make you return.
Do you work with our existing name?
Usually. Naming is a separate exercise and we only recommend it where the name genuinely blocks growth: it is unpronounceable in the markets you sell into, it is unregistrable, or it describes something you no longer do. Changing a name that customers already know is a real cost, and it should be a considered decision rather than part of a design refresh.
What do we get at the end?
A guidelines document covering logo usage, typography, colour, imagery and tone, plus the source files and the templates your team actually needs day to day. Guidelines nobody can apply are the most common failure in this work, so the deliverable is built around what your team will be making each week.
Can you roll the brand out across the website too?
Yes, and it usually makes sense to. A brand that is only ever seen as a PDF has not been tested. Applying it to the website is where the typography scale, the colour contrast and the tone of voice get proven against real content.
How do you measure whether branding worked?
Not by design awards. The measures that matter are commercial: whether you can charge more, whether the sales conversation gets easier, whether the right candidates apply, and whether people describe you the way you intended. We agree which of those matter before starting, because they shape the work.
What clients actually say.
Every quote below comes from a client whose work we report on monthly. We’ll happily put you on a call with any of them.
“The flagship site is now central to our go-to-market. It's credible enough for enterprise buyers and modern enough for product-led users: a hard balance to strike.”
“The site reads like our work. Every project gets the editorial treatment it deserves and our enquiry quality has changed completely.”
Let’s discuss a project.
