Common questions.
What are the rules on advertising dental treatments?
Advertising is governed by GDC guidance and the CAP advertising codes, and they are stricter than most practices expect. Claims have to be substantiated, before and after imagery has to be handled carefully, prescription only medicines cannot be advertised to the public, and how you present specialist titles and registration matters. We build pages within those constraints and will push back on copy that oversteps, but you should take your own compliance advice on clinical claims rather than rely on ours.
We are a mixed practice. Should NHS and private sit on the same website?
Same site, clearly separated. Patients arrive with one of those two questions in mind and get frustrated when the answer is buried, so each needs an obvious route from the homepage and honest information about availability. Where mixed practices go wrong is hiding the NHS side, which damages trust with existing patients, or blurring the two so nobody knows what they will be charged.
Should we publish prices for treatments like implants or Invisalign?
A starting price with an explanation of what changes it is usually better than nothing. High value treatment searches are comparison driven, and a page with no indication of cost loses people who assume the worst. What matters is honesty about the range and the factors that move it, plus clear finance information where you offer it, so the consultation is spent on suitability rather than sticker shock.
How do we compete with corporate groups and aggregator sites?
Not by trying to outrank them on the broadest treatment terms, which are held by sites with far more authority and budget. The winnable ground is treatment plus location, the expertise of named clinicians, and the questions patients actually ask before committing to something like implants. A well maintained Google Business Profile with recent reviews often does more for local visibility than another page of copy.
Can online booking work alongside our practice management software?
Usually, though it depends which system you run. Some practice management platforms expose live availability that a website booking flow can write into, others only support a request that reception confirms. The second is still worth building, because capturing an out of hours request beats losing the patient to whoever answered first. We check what your system supports before promising a live diary.
